Demonstrating the Use of Yellowhead Alfalfa in a One-Cut and Two-Cut Harvest System, Year Two

The objective of this ADOPT project was to demonstrate the effect that harvest schedule has on the yield and quality of Yellowhead alfalfa compared to two purple blossomed varieties, one a tap and the other a creeping rooted type. This project was completed in 2017. View the full report here

Demonstration of Scarification Methods for Cicer Milkvetch Seed

The objective of this 2017 ADOPT project was to assess practical methods by which producers can scarify cicer milkvetch seed on-farm. Scarification is a technique used to improve the uniformity of germination in cicer milkvetch by abrading the impermeable seed coats to allow uptake of moisture from the soil. Use of the Grazing Response Index (GRI) to Facilitate Forage Management Decisions

The project will demonstrate a simple, effective way for livestock producers to evaluate grazing impacts on their land by applying the principles of plant response to defoliation using the Grazing Response Index (GRI). This project was completed in 2017. View the final report here.
